The following is the text of a conversation between the famous European playwright and intellectual, George Bernard Shaw, and the famous Islamic scholar and missionary, Maulana Abdul Aleem Siddiqui. They met in Mombasa, in British-occupied Kenya, 65 years ago on April 17, 1935.
This booklet, on the subject of fasting in Islam, comprises four sections. In the first section we discuss the basic objective of the institution of fasting in Islam as one of the development of 'values'. We argue the point that values are an indispensable foundation of 'power' . In the second section we seek to explain the linkages which exist between fasting, on the one hand, and such specific values as charity, chastity, and freedom, on the other. In the third section there is an attempt to demonstrate a certain chronological sequence through which the compulsory fast in Islam can lead the believer to spiritual or religious experiencse. We then proceed to demonstrate the link which must always exist between moral and spiritual values, or between morality and religion and, hence, between religion and power. And finally, in the fourth section we examine the effect of fasting on the physical body and on physical health. Physical health and strength are a vital requirement, materially and psychologically, for the development of power.
Islamic scholar Imran N. Hosein spent 15 years studying the subject of Gog and Magog. He then devoted himself to ten months of continuous effort in order to write this ground-breaking book on ‘An Islamic View of Gog and Magog in the Modern World’. I began my study of Gog and Magog more than fifteen years ago in the early 90’s while resident in New York. My subsequent public lectures on the subject never failed to provoke keen interest from my Muslim audiences in several parts of the world. The evidence and arguments presented in the chapter on Gog and Magog in my book, ‘Jerusalem in the Qur’an’, succeeded in convincing many who read the book that we now live in a world dominated by Gog and Magog. They were easily convinced that the ‘town’ mentioned in the Qur’ān in Sūrah al-Anbiyāh’ (21:95-6) was Jerusalem and hence, that Gog and Magog (and Dajjāl) explained the ominously unfolding ‘war on Islam’ with slaughter and destruction of Muslims in so many parts of the world. As a consequence, such readers also understood Israel’s mysterious imperial agenda, and many have been making efforts to extricate themselves and their families from the embrace of Gog and Magog – an embrace that will take 999 out of every 1000 of mankind into the hellfire.

One of the essential characteristics of the religion of Islam is its insistence that when a people recognize Allah Most High as 'sovereign' (al-Malik) then they must ensure that the State and all its institutions submit to Allah's supreme authority and supreme law. If the State, rather than Allah, is recognized as sovereign, and that is the essence of the secularism, Islam declares such to be Shirk (blasphemy) and that is the greatest sin possible.
Around the world today the modern secular State is universally recognized as sovereign. Its authority is recognized as supreme, and so too its law. And so, around the world today mankind is now embraced by a universal political Shirk (blasphemy). This is, in fact, one of the major signs that we now live in the age of Dajjal, the false Messiah or Anti-Christ, who deceived mankind into worshipping other than Allah Most High. He, Dajjal, is the mastermind behind today's world order about which the Hadith declares that 999 out of every 1000 will enter into the hellfire. But even Muslims seem to be unaware of this.
This book is a part of a larger unpublished work on the Organisation of Islamic Conference. It documents and exposes the complicity of the Saudi-Wahabi alliance in the fall of the Khilafate and the subsequent obstacles imposed to prevent the re-establishment of the Khilafat. I have followed with indescribable pain the cowardly American terrorist attacks on those Muslims of Afghanistan who took a stand for Islam and who were entirely innocent of the September 11th terrorist attack on America. America has consistently followed the same policy of ruthless merciless oppression from the time of the extermination of the indigenous American -Indian peoples and the enslavement of the African people in the Americas to the absolutely shameless support for the relentless oppression of the State of Israel in the Holy Land. Only those who are completely blind and totally corrupted in respect of their capacity for understanding can fail to see the above.
One of the signs of the last age, i.e., before the end of the world, is the absence of knowledge (of Truth and, therefore of Islam). Our widespread ignorance of the subject of ‘Dreams’ and the important place which ‘Dreams’ occupy in Islam, (as well as the widespread ignorance of the subject of the Prohibition of Riba in Islam), is yet another indication that the last age has arrived! I was myself largely ignorant of the subject and, as a consequence, Satan attacked me through dreams for ten long miserable years. I did not have the basic knowledge of the subject that the reader can now easily obtain by reading this booklet, and which could have protected me from those dangerous attacks and from the grievous damage that they inflicted on me and my family...
Let us, with Allah's blessed name, embark from my Caribbean island-home in Trinidad, for an exclusive 'southern hemisphere' Islamic lecture-tour that will commence in February 2007 and end one year later in February 2008. This journey will take us through Venezuela and Argentina in South America, Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe in Southern Africa, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in South Asia, to Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore in South-East Asia. We will sometimes have to visit the same country twice. At other times, because of unjust war on Isl?m, we will have to cancel visits to countries such as Australia and New Zealand even though there are large numbers of Muslims awaiting us. And at yet other times the host communities in places such as Fiji Islands and India would themselves decide against hosting a lecture-tour out of fear. And finally we will sorrowfully have to postpone visits to countries such as Iran, Yemen and the city of Hong Kong because of time constraint.
I am happy that this booklet was written here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a city which has been so kind and hospitable to me over the years, and was completed in blessed Ramadan 1428H while I am still engaged in a year-long Islamic lecture-tour, and far away from the comforts of my home in the Caribbean island of Trinidad.
A writer who writes a book while travelling, as many distinguished scholars of Islam have done in our glorious past, suffers from the disadvantage of not having access to his library of books, and often has to quote from memory. As such, minor errors can result from lapses of memory. I seek forgiveness for such.
The size of this booklet has been kept deliberately small in order to encourage our people to read it.
The language used is also quite simple and free from such technical economic jargon as fiat money.
Hence the average reader should encounter no difficulties in respect of language. It is very likely that terrible events will unfold in the world of money within a brief time of the publication of this booklet that would validate the analysis conducted. Hence readers should not delay in assessing the arguments raised and, if found convincing, in searching for and adopting a proper response to the challenge.

I am surprised that such a meticulously documented book had to wait for such a long time before seeing the light. It is now more than half a century since the Zionists began their appalling oppression and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people whose only offense is that they happened to live in a country considered by the Jews to be their promised Holy Land.
The Zionists have continuously referred to distorted scriptures from the Torah and other Biblical material to justify their atrocious behavior and to motivate the Jews to establish a State of Israel that extends from the Nile to the Euphrates with Jerusalem as its capital.
